Assignment 2: Bowls


 These bowls contain busts of Ruggieri and Filomena and are from around 1520. They were from Italy and are Tin-glazed earthenware. You can see the renaissance inspiration in the painting of the figures, the colors on the latter bowl looking a little baroque with the intense hues. The clothing and head-wear are very interesting and the artist did a good job at making them look golden and extravagant, clearly the patrons are wealthy. 


These bowls are very contemporary looking. The look of texture created by the pinstripes is interesting and the yellow blocks remind me of Legos. I think the color combination of ochre , black and white is working well, and it reminds me of Egyptian artworks.  
These bowls look very modern, like a set you could go buy from the store. I like the patterned texture and think that it works with the solid white glaze. These bowls look elegant and very clean. It is definitely a different style compared to the intricate glaze on the bowls above, but it works in its simplicity.
