#3 Journal Entry with bowls.

Bowls are used for variety purposes such as tea bowl, rice bowl, and soup bowl. And always great shape and design of bowl makes feel better. When I eat something with nice and beautiful bowl, I will be having good appetite with great feeling. So now we look at the four great artist’s work.

Firstly, here is Shoji Hamada’s bowl. His most of works have simplicity design and it gives urgency and power. Also, his bowls feel like traditional thing. Even though his works are quite expensive, I guess Asian will love his bowls.

Secondly, it is Suze Lindsay’s tea bowl. Most of her works used slip in many ways and glaze as well. Especially natural pattern, such as leaves, bamboo, is often used in her works. All the bowls are quite unique and they are attractive. In this picture, this tea bowl has narrow feet and it is unique.

Next is Warren Mackenzie. His bowls are having really unique form that has really narrow feet than body part. Also, he used slip and glaze not that much. So his works looks also traditional and simply. And he pretty likes organic patterns.

Lastly, this is Linda Arbuckle’s bowl. I guess that she really likes to use slip and most of her works are colorful. She always used leaves and fruit. I think women will love her works. I feel like little bit diffused though. But I think it looks pretty.   (Haemi Jung)
