Everyone has different ideas on what is ugly what is beautiful. Something Visually fascinating to me would be one that uses color in a way where it brings the piece together but still adds a thought to your mind about the art work other then its just "pretty" or "cool" looking but that there could be a story behind it or even it making you create a story for it, to use the imagination.
Another item of interest that catches my eye is if there is meaning behind it and what that meaning was. Also possibly historical value as well, because if there is history to it even by a few years then there could possibly be a story.
Different shapes and designs that are not commonly used catches my eye as well because if you don't see shapes or structures that are used often then you linger on the fact of why they are not used more often.
So to summarize I enjoy color, historic or story telling pieces and mystery which may in art.
11 steps to help you on the wheel:
1) Keep a constant weight and size for each clay you wedged.
2) Keep clay lubricated AFTER the clay is already stuck to the wheel
3) Do not used fingers; use the palm of your hands more.
4) Used a steady force if needed steady your hands on your legs.
5) Do not rest your hand too much on the wheel head.
6) For opening and pulling it’s best to work on the right side of the wheel and your clay.
7) For beginners go slow but steady but not to slow. You want a “spring” (like a slinky) to be well medium tight not lose or to tight. Try not to use your inside hand to much
8) Do not work with the play while its not moving.
9) Clay has a kind of memory.
10) When pulling, the sponge can help.
11) Clean off your before you take your pot off of the wheel but after you use your wire to disconnect the pot from the wheel.
