Claes Oldenburg, originally from sweden moved to the united states at a young age. He is known throughout the world with his huge works of art. The first image is a giant saw cutting through a sidewalk. the second is a giant birdie from badminton. I especially enjoy that piece because i am a huge fan of badminton and greatly appreciate his attention to detail on a grand scale. the third image is an ice cream cone that has splattered onto the corner of the building. I really like that piece because it is almost as if someone above dropped it from above in a sort of way to let everyone know that maybe there is someone up there. and the last picture is a cherry on the end of a spoon. this piece is intriguing to me because its two simple things, a spoon, and a cherry. who eats cherries with a spoon? All of his work is amazing with the scale he used and i wish Central had larger artwork on campus by Claes Oldenburg.
